Black Rose Fragrance - Goya Review

If you haven't guessed from my blog I love the 50's; the beautiful make-up, the magical dresses and the elegant and vivacious style. So when Goya offered me a chance to review their recreated Black Rose Fragrance, I was more than happy to oblige.

The original Black Rose was first created in the 1950s by Douglas Collins, the founder of Goya. Recently the original formula was found preserved in a museum, and now it has been exclusively recreated in England by expert perfumers. Advised by Douglas' son Christopher Collins, the fragrance was researched and developed until it gained his approval.

The 15ml edition of the Black Rose Fragrance, like the original, is presented in a vintage matchbox style packaging. It has green vertical lines and a beautiful deep red rose motif. The bottle itself is square clear glass, with a classic label proudly displaying the name.

When we think of roses we think of romance, and this is exactly the imagery this fragrance summons too. It dreams up a scene of walking with your lover on a starry night, feeling their velvety skin as they brush against your hand and being warmed by their touch.

Reminding us of something we have forgotten today, this perfume represents the beginning of love, when small touches meant everything and romance was something of an art. As the name suggests the scent is floral with a velvety musk. This fragrance begins with top notes of Bergamot, Clove and Green Stems. A middle of Rose, Geranium and Rose Damas, then lastly leaving a Jasmine, Salicylate and Musk dry down.

Black Rose is a rich and sensual fragrance, I recommend one short spray on your pulse points to allow the fragrance to emanate to its fullest potential. The fragrance will warm and rise when applied to the base of your throat, your inner wrists, behind the ears, the inner elbow, behind the knees and in the cleavage. It is best to avoid rubbing your wrists together, so you do not cause the scent to be crushed.

This fragrance lasted on my skin all day and right into the night. It dimmed to a sweet soft rose, like the dreamy feeling after kissing goodbye to your love as your night comes to an end. This scent is the butterflies in your stomach and the smile that lights up the room. It tells the story of a romance fit for the silver screen.
"It recreates a world of elegance and unbridled romance that has been long forgotten"

If you would like to try Goyas Black Rose for yourself, it is available as a 15ml bottle, a 100ml bottle and a perfumed soap. It can be purchased at varies stockist and from the Goya Website.
