Sweet Greens Set - Twinings Tea Review

Now Summer is just around the corner, I feel the spring popping into my step, my mood brightening and my senses feel like celebrating. I am very much a Summer person and as soon as I feel the sun shinning through my window I am ready for adventures. I am ready for picnics on beautiful rugs while I sip tea, lazing around in the sun and feeling the green grass beneath my feet.

People drink Green Tea for many different reasons. Some because they enjoy a lighter taste, and others because they prefer a lower caffeine intake. However there are many different styles of tea, all containing different amounts of caffeine per ounce. All of these teas offer different flavours, different benefits and feelings.

Green Tea has so many health and beauty benefits, this is just one of the reasons why I love it. I felt very lucky to have been treated to the lovely Sweet Greens Set. It is an adorable limited edition gift set from Twinings, containing two sweet tea packs and a cute sagaform cup. One is a Cherry Bakewell Green Tea and the other packet is a Fudge Melt Green Tea. All of this came packaged in a beautiful Twinings gift bag, making me feel that extra bit special.

My favourite type of tea is usually a hot Twinings Earl Grey with two sugars (I can take or leave the milk) but sometimes Green Teas are just what I need, I can drink tea all year round and find I sometimes crave something more fruity and refreshing when the weather is hot.

As the weather has been rather hot lately, I first tried the Cherry Bakewell Green Tea. The aroma was sweet and inviting, like summer in a cup. You are instantly struck with a marzipan fragrance, which also comes through in the first sip. It reminds me of a delightful picnic full of my favourite mini cakes and high tea sandwiches. You then notice the refreshing green tea taste, like a gentle summer breeze floating past. It grounds the taste as you swallow the tea, and afterwards you are left a fruity cherry high note.

The next day I tried the Fudge Melt Green Tea as it originally reminded me more of winter nights and warm hugs. It was not over powering and the heart of it was seeped much more in the traditional green tea flavourings. It did however leave a nice sweet, smooth fudge flavour on your palette at the end. I found the taste to be warming and comforting, like relaxing in the english countryside.

These were lovely blends, the sweetness was smooth enough not to be over powering but fruity enough to be refreshing. I really enjoyed my little adventure with them and the place they take me. I cannot wait to taste more of the Twinings flavoured teas. If you would like to try them for yourself, visit the Twinings Tea Website.
According to the Caffeine informer websiteBlack Tea contains on average 42mg of caffeine per 8 oz cup compared to the 25mg per 8 oz cup of Green Tea. Though this can be effected by the brewing method. Green tea is also thought to offer a variety of different health benefits. It is often consumed to treat depression, aid in weight loss and to help with general skin care. (including signs of ageing) It also has anti-viral and antibacterial properties, which can help with many health conditions; such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and cholesterol levels. Green Tea is not processed as much as other teas (unless it is decaffeinated) which means it is rich in Catechins. These are believed to be the main reason green tea is used for health and beauty benefits. Various sources suggest that the Catechins are a type of antioxidants that protect cells from damage, as well as help heal. What wonderful reasons to drink green tea but of course you can always drink the tea for the pure joy of its flavours as well.
