My Baby Shower - Lush Party

With all the excitement in the air over the new Royal baby, yesterday I got to celebrate the impending arrival of my own little prince. A dear friend of mine had planned a baby shower for me at one of my favourite places, Lush! I was beyond thrilled when I heard that Lush host their own Parties. My own business involves creating paper craft items for parties and helping people plan weddings and other special occasions, So parties are something I can't help throw myself into.

If you have read my blog before you will probably know that I love any reason to smile and celebrate. I really appreciate anyone who has given this to me, so for my baby shower I wanted to spend time with a few friends who have always been there for me. The five of us arrived at the store to be welcomed by the always smiling Northampton Lush staff. They introduced themselves and went over the plan for our party.

The Lush Northampton staff are warm, friendly and knowledgeable. You are never made to feel uncomfortable around them or like you are in the way for asking too many questions. They offered us lots of help and really added fun to the party. We started with a silly game playing with some of the Lush Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly. We threw it around, got to know each other and shared lots of laughs. I didn't win this game, as I dropped it, but I blame the massive baby bump slowing me down.

Next we got to make our very own face mask. This is an extra kit that can be purchased to make with the lush staff. There is also the choice to make a variety of bath bombs or bubble bars. We chose the Cupcake Face Mask, made up from a blend of: cleansing Rhassoul Mud; protective Linseed infusion; comforting Fair Trade Vanilla Absolute; and skin softening Cocoa Powder. The Rhassoul Mud and Cocoa Powder absorbs all dirt and grease, offering deep cleanse. The Linseed and Cocoa Butter moisturises your skin. Whilst the Fresh Mint stimulates and tones the skin.

We were then treated, pampered and offered full one-on-one consultations. Some of us had facials and others hand massages. Upon starting the facials the Lush staff asked about each persons skin type and any concerns they had with it. They recommended a routine that would help each individual and showed them how to treat their type of skin.

The skin was cleansed, toned and a face mask applied, all chosen to suit the individual's needs. The mask was left on for ten minutes and then removed with warm water in circular motions. For any that wouldn't come of easily it was recommended to use the cleanser again to make removal easier and more gentle for the skin.

For those of us having the massage, we opted for the hand care treatment. We discussed the Lush Massage Bar Range; massage techniques; and the health benefits of each ingredient. Massage is believed to offer a variety of different health benefits, such as: boosting the immune system; lifting the mood and relieving stress; reducing sleep disturbance; and easing aches and pains.

I chose the Strawberry Feels Forever Massage Bar for my treatment. This is created with: refreshing Fresh Strawberries; cleansing and uplifting Bergamot Oil; Moisturising Extra Virgin Coconut Oil; and soothing Hibiscus Extract.

The Strawberry Feels Forever Massage Bar was a lovely softening bar that was not to heavy, making it perfect for the warm weather. It left me feeling de-stressed and my skin velvety smooth. My treatment was finished with a light application of Silky Underwear Dusting Powder to take away any oiliness left from the bar.

I could go on forever with all the interesting information we learnt about the products and their benefits; but I think that will have to be covered in future blogs. I was really impressed with the knowledge and love the Lush staff have for what they sell. It's nice to buy from someone who loves the products as much as you.

My baby shower came to an end with a shop around the store. We got to spend the money on our vouchers, and I must admit I found so much I wanted to try I had to go over my budget. I brought some lovely items for my hospital bag. Some products were recommended in particular to refresh and lift me after having baby.
Lush offer three different Party Packages to choose from:

  • the Beauty School package (Which is the package we used) which includes one hour and thirty minutes of skin care lessons and pampering.
  • the Fun and Games package, one hour and thirty minutes of lots of high energy activities using Lush products
  • and the Happy Hour, one hour of VIP, out of hours shopping with interactive product experiences, this can also include pampering and games.

Lush can also offer tailor made party packages, so why not pop by and talk to your local store to plan something special!

Thank you for reading my blog, and thank you to everyone who made my shower so special. I highly recommend treating yourself or a loved one to a lush party. We all had such a lovely time and I can not praise the Lush Northampton staff enough! We really felt like we were among friends!
